Differences Between Flat Pack Container Houses and Prefab House
2023.11.24Industry News
In recent years, the practical concept of temporary construction, represented by Flat Pack Container Houses and Prefab Houses, has gained widespread recognition and increased usage. However, is there a significant difference between Flat Pack Container Houses and Prefab Houses? Here is a detailed comparison:

        1.Structural Comparison

Flat Pack Container House: Modular construction consisting of top and bottom frames, corner columns, and interchangeable wall panels. Components are prefabricated in the factory, and on-site assembly follows unit module patterns without the need for secondary construction.

Prefab House: Constructed through bolt and other connection methods, requiring on-site assembly.

        2.Performance Comparison

Flat Pack Container House: Unified layout, welded for stability, earthquake resistance, and windproofing. Lifespan exceeds 10 years, can be disassembled and reused multiple times, economically friendly.

Prefab House: Inlay-style layout, good wind resistance and earthquake resistance with a lifespan of about 6 years. Limited disassembly and potential for collapse if the foundation is unstable. Fire resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation performance are not as good as Flat Pack Container Houses.

        3.Installation Comparison

Flat Pack Container House: Four workers can complete the installation of a single container in three hours. It can also be transported as a whole and occupied after connecting water and electricity. Good ground conditions may eliminate the need for a foundation, or a simple foundation like a strip or squat type can be used.

Prefab House: Four people can construct approximately 120 square meters in a day. The installation period is longer, requiring the casting of concrete foundations and the use of expansion screws to bind the house to the foundation.

        4.Transportation Comparison

Flat Pack Container House: Can be disassembled into individual modules, compressed for flat transportation. Approximately 12 modules can be transported in one 17.5-meter truck. It can also be transported as a whole, with no loss of items inside during movement.

Prefab House: Transportation requires disassembling equipment and packing items, leading to potential damages during each disassembly.

Through this analysis, Flat Pack Container Houses slightly outperform Prefab Houses in various aspects. However, Prefab Houses have lower costs. The choice between them depends on specific circumstances.
